Indianapolis Ranks #6 in MSN's Search for Fast Food Addicts
In a recent MSN survey to find the cities where America's fast food addicts reside, Indianapolis ranked # 6 out of 100 cities. The survey looked at the number of fast food restaurants per capita, percentage of the population that visited fast food restaurants, and those who consumed fast food more than seven times a month. It also looked at the city's obesity level and who's eating the least amounts of fruits and vegetables.
GOING LOCAL WEEK is a great time to begin to turn this tide in Indianapolis- and the rest of the country. How about planning a trip to a farmers' market this weekend instead of the local fast food establishment? How about substituting thick juicy slices of locally grown tomatoes for chips with a sandwich? How about a local, seasonal fruit snack instead of pre-packaged baked goods?
Any ideas on how we can turn this trend around? Please share them in the comments section!
