Markle Farm and Greenhouse Offers CSA with a Choice

Ginny Markle came back to Indiana ten years ago to care for her Mom. One day as she was taking her Mom's dog to be groomed she drove by a piece of land that she thought would make a perfect farm for someone...but not for her. The former nurse had many of years of experience working on farms and in orchards, but she never thought she would actually be a farm owner. "I still don't know why I did it," she told me. "But I called the person who had the land for sale, made what I thought was too low an offer, and was shocked when the offer was accepted!" The land had rich soil and it wasn't long before Ginny was successfully growing and selling bedding plants, vegetables, cut flowers, and herbs from her 3 greenhouses.

You'll now find Ginny and her beautiful produce at the LaFayette and West Lafayette farmers' markets or, if you like, you can call her directly and pick up items at the farm. Ginny offers lots of variety including 15 different kinds of eggplant, fennel, leeks, arugula, tomatoes, and beans. She also provides, with advance notice, bushels of beans and tomatoes for home canning. 

The ambitious farmer launched a CSA in 2009. She calls it a CSA with a Choice. Subscribers get "Markle Money" in return for their paid subscription and can use that money at the farmers' markets or at the farm for any items. She developed the Markle Money concept because she says, "It gives the customer a little more flexibility than a traditional CSA."
