Brookston Chili: A Real Deal of a Meal
Three dollars and seventy five cents won't go very far at most restaurants and cafes, but on Fridays and Saturdays at The Prairie Street Market located next door to the Two Cookin' Sisters Specialty Food and Gift Shop, that'll get you a hearty lunch of a 16 ounce bowl of Brookston Chili made with local beef and a corn muffin packed with crunchy corn niblets (I just love that word.), cheddar cheese, and jalapenos. Or, if you're in a rush, take home a quart of it "to go" for a mere $7.50.
My husband and I had lunch at the Market last Saturday after doing some Christmas shopping in Lafayette and at the Two Sisters' shop. The chili was mildly spicy, slightly sweet, and loaded with veggies, beef, and bacon. It was delicious, filling, and a great deal. We'll be back!
